Westknits Bestknits 3: Shawl Evolution contains thirteen shawl patterns that represent the colorful and evolving Westknits style.
From opera singers to actors and make-up artists, the queer cast represents Stephen’s creative circle. These friends travelled from around the world to share their unique character and strengths in front of the camera. Their playful interactions show the knitted shawls as high fashion wearable art, and invite crafters to look at knitting in a new way.
Stephen blends knitting techniques and colorplay together with an improvisational design process to create vibrantly unique shawl shapes. Styled with clothing from Walter van Beirendonck, the images blend fantasy and reality to create Stephen’s dream fibre fashion world.
