KARINA KOPYAN

THE DROWNED MAIDEN

Portrait of London based artist and illustrator Katrina Kopyan in her artist studio at Wasteland April 2016.

She did three hours performance / live painting in an outfit that weighs 10 kg whie being chained.

The Drowned Maiden is a story of a modern woman trying to cope, but has some old Japanese and Eastern European tales at its core, in which women choose drowning as as a way out. In those tales, they are usually turned into a creature or are stuck in limbo of reflection and analysis of their problems for eternity.
